Payment Terms

Last updated: October 6, 2026

What gets charged, when, and how it can come back. These terms describe the real behaviour of the billing system — confirmation-gated overages, rollover clearing on downgrade, and the digital-content refund rule.

This document is provided in English, which is the controlling legal text. Translations are for convenience only.

1. Scope

These Payment Terms govern every transaction made through the Service: one-off document purchases, subscription payments, overage charges and related refunds. They supplement the Terms of Service; where they conflict on payment matters, these Payment Terms control.

2. Accepted Payment Methods

Card payments (Visa, Mastercard, American Express and locally supported schemes) are processed by Stripe; PayPal is supported as an alternative wallet. We do not store full card numbers, CVV codes or bank credentials — payment instruments are handled by our payment processors under their own PCI-DSS compliance. Enterprise customers may request annual invoicing with bank transfer.

3. Prices, Currency and Tax

Prices are listed in USD. One-off documents cost $29.99. Subscriptions: Basic $79.99/month, Pro $149.99/month, Enterprise $299.99/month; annual plans are billed up front at a 20% discount ($767.90, $1,439.90, $2,879.90 respectively).

Where the law requires us to collect tax (US sales tax, EU VAT under the OSS regime, GST elsewhere), the tax is calculated and shown at checkout before you confirm. EU and Northern Ireland customers always see gross prices inclusive of VAT, as required by the Omnibus Directive.

4. Authorization and Charges

By purchasing, you authorize StatuteFlow to charge the selected payment method for the amounts shown at checkout, including recurring subscription charges at the stated interval until cancellation. Subscriptions are charged at the start of each billing period.

If a charge fails, we may retry it up to three times over the following days. Recurring billing resumes only after a successful charge; documents generated during a grace period remain yours.

5. Overage Billing Requires Your Confirmation

When your monthly quota is exhausted, the Service shows the discounted overage price for your plan (Basic $24.99 per document, Pro $19.99 per document) and generates the document only after you explicitly confirm that single charge. Overages are never billed silently, never aggregated into an end-of-month statement, and each overage confirmation is recorded with a timestamp in your billing history.

6. Renewal and Cancellation

Subscriptions renew automatically. You can cancel at any time from subscription settings; the cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period, which remains fully usable. Annual plans may be cancelled early with a pro-rata refund calculated as: annual price minus (months elapsed × monthly price), minus a 5% processing fee, floored at zero.

Changing plans takes effect immediately for upgrades (priced pro-rata) and at period end for downgrades; rolled-over quota is cleared when you downgrade or cancel.

7. Refunds and Digital-Content Delivery

One-off purchases are refundable within 14 days if the document has not been generated. Once you generate or download a document, the digital content has been fully delivered and the purchase becomes final — by unlocking and generating, you expressly consent to immediate performance and acknowledge losing any applicable statutory withdrawal right, including the EU 14-day right of withdrawal (see the EU Compliance Notice and the consent checkbox in checkout).

Documents rejected by a court or agency for a drafting or formatting defect are fixed free of charge within 14 days, or refunded if we cannot fix them. Duplicate charges from system errors are refunded automatically to the original payment method.

Refunds are processed to the original payment method within 10 business days of approval; processor settlement times may add a few days.

8. Payment Disputes and Chargebacks

Before opening a bank dispute, contact [email protected] — most issues (defective documents, accidental duplicates) resolve within days and without harming your account. Filing a chargeback without first attempting resolution constitutes a breach of these terms and may suspend the related account until the dispute concludes.

9. Billing Records and Invoices

Every charge appears in your in-account billing history with date, amount, plan and document reference. Receipts are emailed at charge time; VAT-compliant invoices for EU business customers can be requested from support with your VAT identification number.

10. Security of Payment Data

Payment pages are served over TLS by our processors; tokenized payment metadata (last four digits, brand, expiry) is stored by them and passed to us only as needed to display receipts and handle disputes. We never see or store raw card data. See the Privacy Policy for the full record of what we retain and for how long.
